C. Jason Wilson's Gravatar Momma, A good alternative to photoshop is a opensource program called GIMP. It is almost just as powerfull as photoshop and very similar in layout. Visit http://www.gimpshop.com/ to download (GIMPShop) a modification of the free/open source GNU Image Manipulation Program (GIMP), intended to replicate the feel of Adobe Photoshop. Its primary purpose is to make users of Photoshop feel comfortable using GIMP.

C. Jason Wilson's Gravatar Momma, I forgot to provide an answer to your first question about a name for this process. I can't say for sure that there is an official name for it but
I suppose one could call the process, "color isolation" since that is basically what your trying to achieve. I should probably update the video title to reflect that term.

Thanks for visiting and the feedback on my tutorials. I've been to busy lately to post a new one but hope to in the near future.
